The Union was established in Gaza City in May 1999, and another branch was founded in Ramallah in 2000.
Later, the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy sought to unify the two unions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, leading to the formation of a unified union. The current board consists of 12 members representing the metal and engineering industries sector in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
